Esther Hio-Tong Castillo’s research focuses on the cultural political economy of the city, urban social movement and globalization. Her dissertation project explores the ways that various forms of discourses interact with people’s social life, produce urban space and shape urban social movement in Macau, China from the 1990s to the present.
